VA. Town Supports Bigoted Congressman: Surprise? News?
One enlightened constituent from Goode’s home town of Rocky Mount Virginia likes the King James version of the BIble and thinks everyone should use it whether it represents their faith or not. And everyone in the town that CNN spoke to supports the congressman.
Who cares? It is not news that a Southern town holds such racist and fascist views. It is not a surprise. It is not new.
What is news is that a US congressman, sworn to uphold the constitution which guarantees freedom of religion, is expressing such vitriol without consequences.
I am much more interested in what billions of Muslims around the world think of his comments than what a few of Virgil’s constituents think.
What is also news is the assertion by CNN’s Brian Todd that this does not make them racist but that “their views represent the grey area of race religion and demographics of small town America”. They support laws to prevent Muslims from entering the country and demand that everyone use their chosen book of faith.
Where is the grey area? What would CNN, Wolf or Todd call it if people were supporting a ban on Jews entering the US?
One “supporter” interviewed by Todd says that he is not opposed to the Muslim faith but does not want his (congressman Ellison’s) views forced upon us. Todd then asserts that the Congressman MAY not be forcing his views upon anyone. MAY not be?? When did Mr Ellison demand that these fine folks from Virginia use a Koran. Is Ellison trying to ban white Christians from entering the country?
Why is CNN legitimizing this?
